Although little or no information is available about Nicaragua and the Central American region in general, European travel agencies, tour operators and specialized media reporters return amazed after having explored the exotic and magical destinations Nicaragua has to offer. These include islands with wonderful sceneries, romantic beaches, live volcanoes, colonial cities and much more, all in one place.
Spanish, Dutch, English, German, French, among others, have arrived in Nicaragua and the isthmus in search of new tourist markets. This is an initiative of the Federation of Chambers of Tourism of Central America (FEDECATUR) and CATA, the leading agency in the promotion and positioning of Central America as a multi-destination for tourists at an international level.
“We have received about ten groups of Europeans, and on each trip five wholesalers and an equal number of journalists have arrived to this area. The European market seeks a combination of countries. This market makes long-term trips to discover the largest amount of territory in the region, if not the entire region. This market is very appealing because it seeks emerging destinations, such as Central America, “says Beatriz Flamenco de Contreras, president of FEDECATUR.
Flamenco de Contreras says that what they are seeking is to promote multiple destina-tions. “We must seek Central American integration. Not by country, but a combination of at least two or three countries,” she says
