PUBLIC COMMITMENT OF ADHERENCE TO THE FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL (FSC) CERTIFICATION PROCESS

Maderas Futuro S.A. is a company that started in 2011 in the establishment, management and reforestation of forest plantations, applicable to the tropics. The reforestation model developed by Maderas Futuro SA focuses on the production of high quality precious tropical timber from exotic species such as African and national mahogany (Swietenia humilis), pochote (Bombacopsis quinata) and teak (Tectona grandis) and engaged in the management and protection of forest areas that are on their farms, contributing to foster the ecological and social development of the communities where they operate. Maderas Futuro S.A undertakes through its forest managers to demonstrate a long-term commitment to adherence to the FSC Principles and Criteria. As a general policy of the company, starting in 2016, the process was initiated voluntarily in compliance with the following principles:
Compliance with FSC laws and principles. We will respect all applicable laws in the country, international treaties and agreements of which the country is a signatory, and we will faithfully comply with all FSC Principles and Criteria.
Rights and responsibilities of land tenure and use. Tenure and long-term use rights over land and forest resources are clearly defined, documented and legally established.
Rights of Indigenous Peoples. We recognize and respect the legal and customary rights of indigenous peoples to own, use and manage their lands, territories and resources.
